Comedian Eric Omondi Arrested Again for Attempting to Distribute Free Flour to Supporters

For the second time within a month, comedian Eric Omondi has been apprehended while attempting to distribute packets of flour to his supporters at City Stadium. Omondi had invited his fans to join him on a march to State House on March 7, during which he planned to present CVs, rent arrears, school fee arrears, shopping lists for basic necessities, and electricity bills.
The comedian, who has been vocal about the economic challenges facing Kenyans, claimed he had purchased the flour out of his own pocket and wanted to give it to his loyal followers who couldn't afford basic necessities like flour, sugar, and cooking oil.
Omondi is currently being held at the Industrial Area Police Station. In February, Omondi was arrested for blocking Parliament Road with a group of shirtless men who demanded an audience with Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, and in November 2021, he was arrested for storming Parliament buildings and demanding more local content on media stations, alleging that foreign music and films were drowning out local talent.
