During a memorial service for the late gospel musician and pastor Ilagosa wa Ilagosa, his father confirmed that his son was poisoned. Speaking to the media, the grieving father stated that someone added poison to Ilagosa's food while they were on a trip, leading to his eventual death.

The father advised others to be cautious of their friends and the people they keep close. He remembered Ilagosa as a kind, respectful, and obedient son who was a great help in his music career and brought joy and happiness to the family.

At the memorial, Ilagosa's father expressed his gratitude to the gospel artists, fans, and friends who have provided support during this difficult time. He also announced that Ilagosa will be buried on Thursday, February 16th, at his home in Vihiga county.

Ilagosa passed away on February 3rd while receiving treatment at St. Mary's Hospital Langata. According to a friend, Musalia Mudambi, Ilagosa had been unwell for two months before his death.

Before his passing, the hitmaker behind "Sala Zangu" recorded a video claiming that a colleague in the industry had poisoned him in an attempt to end his life. In the video, Ilagosa stated, "They are trying to stop me from preaching God's word. A well-known adult tried to poison me, but I stand on the church altar. My friend, you cannot destroy me. God is with me and is number one. I will continue preaching about Jesus. I am a seed and I will not die."
