Injera began his career with the Kenyan national team in 2006, and quickly established himself as a key player. He played a vital role in Kenya's success in the Rugby Africa Sevens tournament, helping the team win the title in 2008 and 2009. He also played a key role in Kenya's qualification for the Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2009 and 2013.

Injera's success on the international stage led to him being selected for the Kenyan Sevens team that competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He also represented Kenya in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 Rugby World Cup Sevens.

Off the field, Injera was also known for his leadership and sportsmanship, being appointed as the Captain of the Kenyan Sevens team and also as the ambassador for various brands.
